Itinerary

Day 1

Upon arrival at El Calafate Airport, you’ll be greeted and transferred to Hotel Las Torres, nestled in the stunning landscapes of Torres del Paine National Park. The transfer takes aproximatelly 6 hors.  This scenic drive offers the first glimpses of Patagonia’s rugged beauty. After check-in, take some time to relax and soak in the tranquil surroundings. In the evening, enjoy a welcome dinner featuring traditional Patagonian flavors, preparing for the adventure ahead.

Day 2
  • Starting Point: Hotel Las Torres

  • Destination: Base of the Towers

  • Distance: 12 km (8 miles) round trip to the Towers viewpoint.

  • Duration: 6–8 hours

  • Difficulty: Challenging

Today’s adventure is the challenging yet rewarding trek to Base Torres, one of the most iconic hikes in the region. The trail spans approximately 11 miles (18 km) round trip with an elevation gain of 2,900 feet (880 m). The hike begins through lush lenga forests and across rivers before reaching the rocky moraine leading to the famous viewpoint. After a steep final ascent, you’ll be rewarded with an unforgettable view of the three granite towers standing over a glacial lagoon. Here, enjoy a well-deserved picnic while admiring the awe-inspiring scenery. After a fulfilling day, return to Hotel Las Torres to rest and recharge.

Day 3
  • Starting Point: Paine Grande

  • Destination: French Valley Viewpoint

  • Distance: 16 km (10 miles)

  • Duration: 6–7 hours

  • Difficulty: Moderate to Challenging

Begin the day with a transfer to Puerto Pudeto, where you’ll embark on a picturesque boat journey across the turquoise waters of Lake Pehoe. Upon arrival, set out on a hike into the stunning French Valley, renowned for its dramatic landscapes, hanging glaciers, and towering peaks. The trek covers 10 miles (16 km) round trip, with an elevation gain of 1,600 feet (500 m). The trail winds through scenic woodlands, past roaring rivers, and up to a breathtaking viewpoint offering 360-degree views of the jagged peaks and glaciers that define this valley. After a long day of adventure, return to Hotel Las Torres for a relaxing evening.

Day 4
  • Starting Point: Refugio Paine Grande

  • Destination: Refugio Grey

  • Distance: 11 km (6.8 miles)

  • Duration: 3.5–4.5 hours

  • Difficulty: Moderate

Today’s journey takes you back to Puerto Pudeto for another boat trip across Lake Pehoe, leading to the starting point of the Glacier Grey trek. This hike, covering 7 miles (11 km), takes you through rugged terrain with an elevation gain of 1,000 feet (300 m). As you trek toward Glacier Grey, witness towering ice formations, floating icebergs, and the striking blue hues of the glacier. For an even closer experience, you can opt for a kayak excursion or a boat tour near the glacier’s face. Conclude the day navigatin to cross the Grey Lake to spend the night at Hotel Lago Grey, where you can relax with stunning views of the icy expanse.

Day 5
  • Optional Activity: Kayaking or Ice Trekking on Grey Glacier

  • Hiking Distance: 11 km (6.8 miles) back to Refugio Paine Grande

  • Duration: 3.5–4.5 hours (return hike)

  • Difficulty: Moderate

In the morning of your last day in the W Trek Circuit, consider exploring Grey Glacier up close with a guided kayak or ice trekking excursion. Later come back to Hotel Lago Grey to spend the night, marking the end of your unforgettable W Trek adventure.

To start this journey, travelers have two options; fly into Aeropuerto Internacional Comandante Armando Tola El Calafate (FTE), located just outside El Calafate city or fly to Aeropuerto Internacional Presidente Carlos Ibañez del Campo Punta Arenas (PUQ), located just outside.

  • Arrival Flight: Traveler flies from origin city to Buenos Aires Ezeiza (EZE) or Aeroparque (AEP), then connects with a domestic flight to El Calafate (FTE).

  • Departure Flight: At the end of the itinerary, travelers will take a domestic flight from El Calafate (FTE) back to Buenos Aires (EZE/AEP) for onward international connections.

  • Arrival Flight: Traveler flies from origin city to Aeropuerto Internacional Arturo Merino Benítez Santiago de Chile (SCL), then connects with a domestic flight to Punta Arenas (PUQ).

  • Departure Flight: At the end of the itinerary, travelers will take a domestic flight from Punta Arenas (PUQ) back to Santiago de Chile (SCL) for onward international connections.
